PIGMENTATION

Pigmentation lesions such as sun spots, age spots and freckles that are caused by sun damage can easily be removed, creating a more youthful clearer complexion.

How does pigmentation removal work ?

Short pulses of light are released and are readily absorbed by the high concentration melanin found in within pigmented lesions.  The rapid absorption of light energy heats the melanin and causes destruction to the melanin rich skin cells.  This then triggers the body's natural healing process to stimulate the growth of new healyhly skin tissue.

What does laser feel like ?

Most people describe the treatment as some discomfort and manageable with out anaesthesia.

How many sessions will I need ?

Number of sessions would depend on the type and size of the lesion, but typically a minimum of 3 and up to 6 sessions are recommended.  Treatments are carried out every 4-6 weeks and top sessions are advisable once or twice a year.

Who is suitable for this treatment?

Most people are suitable for this treatment.  Large, mottled or raised pigmentation can not be treated and may need to be checked by a dermatologist. Large dark moles should not be treated, not should lesions covering large parts of the body.  The best results are found with superficial lesions such as those caused by sun damage (sun spots, age spots) and freckles.
